Fired by love's urgent longings, I am his rocketman.

Unfortunately, I have had two surgeries on my left knee.  After both operations I went through physical therapy to strengthen the muscles supporting my knee.  On both occasions, I thought I was in pretty good shape.  But I quickly learned that physical therapists have a knack for identifying weaknesses and designing exercises to address them.  The therapists who worked with me had a remarkable ability to isolate my problems and help me fix them.  Often they focus on tiny muscles and require me to do exercises with little or no weight that fatigue areas of my body that I didn’t even know existed.

In a similar fashion, the Holy Spirit provides spiritual therapy for our interior lives — exposing areas of weakness and prescribing intense exercises to strengthen our inner man so that we can grow in faith.

Just like in the physical realm, I find that I often over estimate my spiritual strength — the level of my faith.  Fortunately, the Holy Spirit never misses the Mark (no pun intended).
